3.21.09  Illinois comes home a winner...again!

Anjanel along with 21 others from the Illinois Country Music Association made Illinois very proud during Music Week last week in Pigeon Forge, TN at the North American Country Music Association International (NACMAI) competition. NACMAI is an organization comprised of 18 states and 4 additional countries. Anjanel was very honored to be awarded with the Most Promising Award for both Female Entertainer of the Year and Vocalist of the Year in New/Modern Gospel. She also brought home Video of the Year for her original song, "Road Trip, " and the Rising Star Award for Songwriter of the Year for her original song, "TomBoy."
    

2.22.09  So Sorry! ~ Special Note from Anjanel

Hi everyone, I wanted to apologize to anyone that went to the Prairie Thunder Hockey game last night, 2/21, expecting me to sing the National Anthem. Unfortunately there was a double booking and a choir had been asked to sing as well. The folks over at the Coliseum are great to work with and sometimes these things happen. It was still a very fun night! The Prairie Thunder pulled out a fantastic win! Way to go!!!

 

2.15.09  Oh Say Can You See.....

Come one, come all to cheer on the Bloomington Prairie Thunder hockey team battle on the Port Huron IceHawks, Saturday February 21 at 7:05pm at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL. Anjanel will be singing the National Anthem prior to the game that evening. This will be a very exciting night, not just because of the game, but because it is also Heartland Community College Night. It will also be the third round of the Prairie Thunder Country Idol. 1.17.09  Fair Fun!

Hey everyone, Anjanel here! I just returned from the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs convention. I had such a wonderful time! I met such wonderful people this weekend. Thank you so much to everyone that made this such a great experience! Hopefully I'll be performing at a fair or festival near you this summer/fall!

 

1.11.09  It's Fair time...almost!

It's that time of year again for the annual Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs (IAAF) convention, held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Illinois. This is an annual event in which county fair organizers from across the state come to explore different options for their fair, varying from food vendors to entertainment. The convention runs from Friday, Jan. 16 - Sunday, Jan. 18. Anjanel will be at the Illinois Country Music Association booth Friday, Jan. 16th from 3 - 8pm and Saturday, Jan 17th from 11am - 6pm. 1.4.09  Anjanel's made Prime Time!

Anjanel will be the special guest this Saturday, January 10th at the Prime Time Country Opry in the newly renovated auditorium at Olympia High School, located at 7832 N 100 East Rd., in Stanford. This is just a short drive from the Bloomington/Normal area, so come on out and enjoy live Country Music! Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm. The Prime Time band always puts on a fantastic and very entertaining show!

Anjanel Folkens has been selected as 1 of 6 performers to compete in the 1st annual Prairie Thunder Country Idol competition which will be held during halftime at the Prairie Thunder hockey game, December 27 at the US Cellular Coliseum, located at 101 S. Madison St. in Bloomington. The game starts at 7:05 pm. She will be competing against friend and fellow performer Mike Porter. 12.07.08  Come on out to NV Ultra Lounge December 13

This is your chance to see Anjanel Folkens upclose and personal on Saturday, December 13th from from 6:30-7:30 pm at NV Ultra Lounge at 107 E. Beaufort St. in uptown Normal, IL. She will be playing and singing a mixture of Country and classic sing-alongs, as well as selections from her debut cd "Road Trip." There is no cover charge. NV Ultra Lounge is a great place to relax, have dinner with a few drinks and enjoy live local music. Anjanel would love to see you come out!!



09.27.08  Come on out to Heather Myers-Mayer benefit

If you live in the Bloomington/Normal area, you should come out to the Heather Myers-Mayer benefit Saturday, October 11. The benefit starts at noon and goes until 11pm. There will be a $5.00 donation at the door. Food will be available, an auction and much more. Heather has a disease called Familial Spastic Paraplegia. This causes her to wear braces on both of her legs. She needs new braces. There is no medical insurance. She also needs to have some genetic testing done. The braces will cost $1,565.00, plus the fees for office calls, fittings, and adjustments. The genetic testing will cost approximately $7,000. Music will be provided by the Cattle Bandits, Anjanel Folkens and Ground Level. Please come out to support a wonderful cause and you're sure to have a fantastic time!

08.05.08  Special Note from Anjanel!

I was so very honored to open up for the Cattle Bandits and John Anderson at the McLean County Fair, Friday August 1 as well as play at the B104 tent that next day at the fair. It was such a great experience! I would like to thank everyone that came out both days! I met so many wonderful people and this will be a weekend I will always remember!

Anjanel is very excited to announce that she will be opening up the Cattle Bandits/John Anderson show at the McLean County Fair, Friday August 1st. She is scheduled to perform at 6:30pm at the Grand Stand. Don't miss her the next day either where she will be performing in the B104 tent in the fairgrounds from 1-3pm. Come on out for a good time!


06.27.08  Anjanel is Honored with People's Choice Award!

Anjanel was very honored to have received the 2008 Illinois Country Music Association's People's Choice Award for Songwriter of the Year-Gospel, for the song "Be As One," off of her debut album "Road Trip." 04.19.08  Anjanel's on B104!

Nope, your ears are not deceiving you if you heard the ad! Anjanel currently has a radio spot on B104 FM advertising her new album "Road Trip." The ad started yesterday, Friday April 18th and will continue to run the entire weekend until midday Monday. Then starting April 27th, the ad will begin airing on the Eddie Bear Classic Country show, Sunday evenings from 7-10pm. Tune into Eddie Bear's show for a chance to win a copy of "Road Trip!"

04.19.08  Did Ya' See Anjanel Around Town?

If you live in the Bloomington/Normal area, you may have seen billboards of Anjanel popping up around town, promoting her CD "Road Trip." The latest billboard locations have been on South Main, by the corner of Main and Wood Street facing south. The second billboard in town is located on Kingsley Street in Normal, just two blocks south of Hovey.

03.20.08  Hey Tennessee Fans!!

Anjanel will be on the air with John Brown of WJFC 1480 AM Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. eastern (2 p.m central standard time) and will play a few songs off of her debut CD "Road Trip." If you are in the Jefferson City, TN area, tune in!

12.10.07  Did you see the billboard?

So if you live in the Bloomington/Normal area in Illinois, did you see the billboard? Running from December 10 thru January 9, a billboard will be up advertising the brand new cd "RoadTrip." The billboard is located on south Veterans off of Brickyard Dr., across the street from The Double Tree Hotel and TGIFriday's, facing north for the south bound traffic. So after many months and hours in the studio, the cd is finally complete! If you are interested in previewing the cd, go to the music and lyrics page and you will be able to listen to samples of each song.
